Celebrating 25 years of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes

This month marks the 25th anniversary of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, a product that has revolutionized the way people clean and disinfect their homes and public spaces. Since their introduction in 2000, our wipes have become a household staple, known for their convenience, effectiveness and innovation. 

As noted in a blog post five years ago when observing our 20th year, the idea for Clorox Disinfecting Wipes originated from a desire to improve Clorox Clean-Up by addressing user concerns about bleach splash-back. This led to the creation of a product that not only disinfects (when used as directed) but also offers ease of use and versatility. 

Over the past 25 years, we’ve continued to innovate, introducing new scents and forms to meet the changing needs of consumers. Most recently, we launched Clorox Scentiva Disinfecting Wipes in uplifting scents, wipes in flexible packaging and a nondisinfecting version of the product with sustainability in mind, Clorox Free & Clear Compostable* Wipes. Through our unrelenting focus on people’s needs, we’ve become an integral part of back-to-school season. In the fight against classroom germs, we’ve earned the spot as teachers’ No. 1 wipe.**
