Enduring Value: Our FY12 Annual Report
There’s a yellow hazard sign that someone posted near my door that reads “Caution: Annual Report Under Construction.” I don’t have bumper stickers on my car, wear pins on my bags or (typically) post signs in my window, but after months of “building” our annual report, that sign felt very apt.
Today, after toasting a cold one last night, I happily removed the sign and can now point people to our FY12 Annual Report: Enduring Value – Our Financial, Environmental, Social and Governance Performance. A few things about this report:
- We chose the theme “Enduring Value” as a nod to the progress we’ve made in the last 100 years and our belief that the next century will be even better. (If I make it to 100, I plan on celebrating too — though admittedly not with an annual report and with no plans to make it to 200.)
- As the title says, the report combines our financial, environmental, social and governance performance. (To toot the Clorox horn lightly, we’re one of a small number of U.S. companies that produce a combined report like this.)
- We moved the full report online, and only printed an executive summary this year. It’s significantly shorter than prior-year reports, and it’s printed on paper that contains 100 percent post-consumer fiber (as we have for the last few years). Score one for the trees (101 trees, actually).
- The online report uses responsive design, which means it’s mobile friendly so you can easily read on your smartphone just how much we’ve reduced our waste since 2007 (spoiler alert … 27 percent).
As with most things, our reporting is a work in progress, as is setting and meeting our financial, environmental, social and governance goals. I hope you’ll take a few moments to look through the report and let us know what you think.
