Looking Back at #MyCloroxSummer
By Rob Ferguson, university program manager
With Fall in the air, we’re thinking about football, cooler weather, pumpkin spice everything — and reflecting on #MyCloroxSummer.
This past summer, 50 talented students from around the U.S. joined Clorox as summer interns. Over 10 weeks from June through August, interns in IT, Legal, Marketing, PSO, R&D and Sales brought innovative ideas and fresh perspective to help our company deliver superior value to our consumers.
To kick off the 2019 Summer Intern Program, interns gathered in Pleasanton, California, for two days of in-depth training focused on industry knowledge, goal setting and even some lessons from Chair and CEO Benno Dorer. They also spent a day immersing themselves in BOLD training designed to inspire them to bring new approaches to their work. This session was modeled after the BOLD workshop offered to Clorox employees.
And the fun continued throughout the summer. Interns participated in a wide variety of activities designed to hone their leadership skills, including a panel discussion with executives and an inclusion & diversity workshop modeled after “A Day of Understanding.” Through the Day of Understanding, the students learned why Clorox believes inclusion and diversity and employees bringing their whole self to work is essential for business success. Our California interns even spent a day helping a dog shelter in Oakland upgrade its facility to be prepared for successful dog adoptions.
And then, just like that, 10 weeks came to an end. Our 2019 interns have returned to school and many of them are considering offers to return to Clorox full-time next summer.
We appreciate all our employees company-wide who took time this summer to open doors of opportunity for our interns. Their work has made a difference in many lives and shown these students what we all know, see and feel every day — that Clorox truly is a great place to work.
