Environmental compliance in our operations

Environmental compliance in our operations

Clorox facilities follow a customized environmental, health and safety, or EHS, system that tracks, reports and enables continuous improvement to maintain a high level of compliance and help advance the company’s sustainability goals. The EHS system also includes a task management system designed to identify and track compliance with applicable environmental regulations.

The Clorox Environmental Compliance Team has broad responsibility for managing and implementing our EHS system. The team works with environmental coordinators at each manufacturing plant who are responsible for local activities, including implementing compliance programs and tasks directed through the EHS system. Plant managers are responsible for ensuring overall compliance at their sites.

Regulatory agencies at the federal and local levels periodically inspect our manufacturing facilities, focusing on the health, safety and environmental compliance of our operations. Clorox also aims to conduct an external or internal audit at Clorox-owned manufacturing facilities once every two years, led by the company’s Global Safety and Environmental team.

Our Supply Chain function provides our teammates with general environmental education and subject-specific training related to their roles, including annual regulatory training, which is tracked through our workforce training system.

Environmental compliance in R&D

Environmental compliance in R&D

Our Product Regulatory team owns the environmental compliance of Clorox’s products and packaging. Business unit general managers and their teams own the environmental impact of our product portfolio, while the R&D Product and Packaging team executes product and packaging improvements that are designed to increase recyclability, enhance sustainability and reduce their environmental footprint.
